6 PPERFECTIONS

1Generositytransforming our bodies , wealth and collection of virtue over the three times ( past, present and future ) into objects desired to every sentient beings with bodhicitta motivation

1.Generous with material things
a. Satisfy the wants of the recipients
b. No Pride
c. No regret
d. With motivation for the sake of all sentient beings
e. Not to hope for any benefit return
*create the cause to resources gain in future.

2.Being generous with the dharma
a. teaching to someone who wishes to listen to benefit in mind
b. dharma sharing in conversation

3.The generosity of giving other fearlessness
a. eg, saving insects from drowning

Complete familiarity with thought of giving your body, possession, root merits, and all their results to others.
2EthicsPerfection of Ethics
Complete Familiarity with abandoning the thought of harming
( altruistic determination, bodhicitta motivation and commitment)
1.Reverse thoughts of harming
2.Turn them into the thought of abandoning
3.Complete familiarity with abandonment becomes the perfection of ethics

3 types of Ethics
1.Refraining from misdeed
To practice the moral discipline of restrain
a. Understand danger of committing negative actions
b. Make a promise or vow to refrain from them ( mindfulness , alertness, conscientiousness )
i. Pratimoksha vows
ii. Bodhisattva vows
– with motivation of bodhicitta, abandoning self cherishing
-Not committing 7 negative actions of body and speech
iii.Tantric vows
c. Keep promise

2.Gathering virtuous of dharma
-Listening and reading Dharma- create good potentials within our mind- practice of 6 perfections

3.Working for the sentient beings
-Helping other in whatever way we can
-Make prayers for them and maintain continuous intention to give assistance when and opportunity arises

* Mahayana=do no harm, do good, benefit others
3PatienceThe mind that are undisturbed.
Patience to the antidote of anger

3 types of patience
1. The patience of remaining clam in the face of attackers
1000 eons of root virtues are destroy from anger
a. Drawbacks of anger
– drive to suicide
– make everyone unhappy
– create enemies

2. The patience pf accepting suffering
Regard suffering as a form of adornment and use it as medicine and help in dharma practice

Engaging in the Deed’s of Bodhisattvas:
– Develop good qualities
– Remove arrogance
– Develop compassion

3. The patience to gain assurance in the dharma
a. Meditating on the key points of practices to perform virtues
b. Learning how to modify your behavior by memorizing and reciting texts: 10 non virtues, 8 verse of mind training
c. Analyzing the significance of the good qualities of Three Jewels
– meaning of your goal of enlightenment
– the path
– selflessness
– profound and extensive baskets of teachings
4PerseveranceGladness or joy in virtue
The best means of carrying a virtue through to completion


1. When you cultivate it you will later succeed
2. Through perseverance you will soon reach the happy states- liberation and full enlightenment
3. And have both the worldly and the transworthly psychic powers- mundane powers
4. Will obtain mundane aims
5. Will come to be pure
6. You will frees and transcend your views of equating the self with 5 aggregates- no “I”
7. You will gain supremely enlightened buddhahood
Zeal( Joyous effort)

3 Types of Laziness that hinder perseverance
1. The laziness of sloth/procrastination
2. The laziness of craving meaningless mundane pursuits
3. The laziness of defeatism- having feeling that can’t do it.
Pessimism or defeatism: The mistaken belief that we cannot progress spiritually and attain Buddhahood.
” I shall be patient even though it may take my whole life to train in just one meditation topic, such as the difficulty of obtaining human rebirth”

3 types of perseverance
1. Armour-like perseverance – our compassion
– train ourselves to that level even to endure to stay in the Hell Without Respite
2. The perseverance to collect virtuous things
3. The perseverance of working for the sake of sentient beings
